Tadoba Tiger Reserve is a beautiful story of protection by the Forest Department staff and Tadoba’s indigenous people. These Gondtribals are truly the stakeholders in protection activities. Little wonder that this protected jungle today provides water, fresh air, habitat and livelihoods to all her inhabitants.
So as you move through the jungle, you will be blessed with sightings of Tadoba’s beautiful flora and fauna – interesting little insects, lofty trees, beautiful birds, glamourous mammals… And yes the tiger too!!!

Spread over a lush 1,773 sq. km. the reserve is the southern extension of the fabled Central Indian landscape. Thick bamboo forests and verdant flora has made it an untamed playground for animals like, Sloth Bears, Dholes, Leopards, Indian gaur among many others. But one among them is by far the most popular, the Tiger.
Home to over 100 tigers & close to 300 species of birds, this reserve is on the top of the lists of wildlife conservationists and nature lovers alike.
Being so close to the Tadoba forest, a safari to the famous TATR, in search of the royal Bengal Tiger, is a must.
The area surrounding the Lodge is also blessed with an amazing array of smaller wildlife, and a nature walk along with the Lodge experienced naturalists, to see the diverse flora and fauna here, is highly recommended. One can even opt to explore the wildlife of the night outside the resort and chance up on Leopards, Golden Jackals, Indian Hares, Indian Foxes, nightjars, owls and much more!
Entry Gates for Safari in Tadoba:
Core Zone:
Core zones includes protected areas, as they act as reference points on the natural state of the ecosystems represented by the biosphere reserves.
- Kolara gate: Kolara gate is located approximately 6 kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate
- Navegaon Gate: Navegaon gate is located approximately 20 kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
- Pangdi Gate: Pangdi gate is located approximately 40 kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
Buffer Zone:
The area that surrounds or adjoins the core areas where nature is conserved
- Kolara : Kolara Buffer gate is located approximately 6 kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate
- Madnapur: Madnapur Buffer gate is located approximately 10kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
- Belara: Belara Buffer gate is located approximately 10kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
- Alizanza : Alizanza Buffer gate is located approximately 10kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
- Sirkhada: Sirkhada Buffer gate is located approximately 15kms from the lodge. Morning and Afternoon safaris are available from this gate.
NIGHT SAFARI: Explore Tadoba at Night
Come to Tadoba to explore the forest at night. Anexperience in search for shining eyes and thus animals in the dark forest. A three hour drive will help you in understanding the night life in a forest. You may even watch the game of prey –predator in action!!! Exploring the Nocturnal wilderness of Tadoba and also assisting the forest department in patrolling the jungles with experienced naturalist and local guide.
- Palasgaon Gate : Palasgaon Night Safari gate is located approximately 15kms from the lodge.The night safari is for 3 hours from 7: 00 pm to 10: 00pm.
WHOLE DAY SAFARI :
The Tadoba National Park offers a special advantage for wildlife enthusiasts by providing the facilities of Full-Day Safari. Now, guests have the option to stay more time inside the park than the standard safari shift time 4:00 hours. The Full-day safari permits allow the visitors to spend a maximum of 12 hours from sunrise to sunset in the park. There is a limitation of 3 Jeeps per day for Full-day safari. During these special safaris, you can either take the packed lunch and have it in the park or come back to the hotel for lunch and visit again to the park.
Safari duration:
The duration of the safari inside the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is for4 hours each in the morning &afternoon.
Safari Booking :
Safaris need to be booked well in advance to ensure availability. At the time of booking your trip, we advise to first get the safaris booked based on your requirement. Our Naturalist will assist you with all the information including pricing of various categories and will confirm the availability based on lead booking time and other parameters.
Safari Essentials
Tadoba is located in central India and mostly remains very warm to hot during the summer days. Winters are pleasant to cold and early mornings and late evenings can be quite chilly. Besides appropriate clothing the following are essentials to carry with you.
- Sun Screen
- Sunglasses
- Insect Repellent
- Neutral (Khaki, Green, Brown) colored clothing
- Preferably very light cottons in summer
- For winters, windbreaker, warm jacket, sweater, fleece, gloves, warm cap
- Safari hat or cap
- Stole, buff or scarf for protection from heat and dust
- Boots or closed shoes
- Binoculars
Camera a must as mobile phones, tabs and ipads are not allowed in the jungle. A camera fee is payable at the gate to the TATR depending on the size of the camera
Spare camera batteries always help
Sandbag, tripod and other accessories for large cameras
Important: Mobile Phones, Tabs or Ipads are not allowed inside the TATR jungle.
Safari Instructions:
- The entire safari experience is organised and managed by the Forest Department of Maharashtra.
- Mobile Phones / I pad / and other electronic tablets are prohibited in the Jungle.
- Lodge experienced Naturalist Services are provided on complimentary basis, and its mandatory to book the naturalist services during the booking process and it is on first come first serve basis only.
- The core area of the national park is closed on all Tuesdays and the buffer area is closed on all Wednesday.
- The safari permits opens 120 days in advance and are booked online, there is a limitation on number of vehicles entering the core area. Kindly let us know the safari dates and we require the ID cards of all the members travelling to book the safaris.
- Once the safari permits are booked, it cannot be cancelled and non-transferable.
- It is mandatory to carry original government issued valid ID cards for Indian nationals and original passports for foreign nationals.
- There is no add on facility in Tadoba once the safari permits are booked,
- The Roster gypsy vehicles are owned by local community and are operated on Rotational basis, the Lodge will not have any control on selecting these vehicles.
- Similarly, the local guides are trained by the forest department and are mandatory to have the Local guide on all the safaris and the guides are also selected on rotational basis.
